Community-Based Performances and One-Off Performance Projects
This strand is focused on delivering performance projects that place communities at the heart of their professional performances. Whether that be through a bespoke rehearsal programme or inviting audiences to interact in the process and/ or final performance, participants are given the opportunity to interact, rehearse and/ or perform with professional Dance Artists exploring a variety of themes, topics and issues that are prevalent to Reading life.Whilst the project, Home, has been influenced by the Artistic Director’s PhD research and experiences of living in Reading, Vote 100 Public Dance & Debate, evolved from the ground up through the Vote 100 Reading community group. It responded to the national government initiative to engage the public with the UK government and the struggle for equal voting rights in this country.
They are open to requests from educational institutions and community groups and organisations for one-off performance projects that fit within Reside Dance’s vision but aren’t necessarily going to become a permanent and ongoing project for the C.I.C. To discuss a potential project, please use the form via the contact page.
