The Quality of the Work

The quality of our work can be evidenced through our grant awards which have been made by Arts Council England, The National Lottery, HM Government and Sport England. For our research and development project, Home at The Rising Sun, Reside Dance C.I.C. received £6,247.00 from Arts Council England with generous support in kind from The Rising Sun Arts Centre. For our Vote 100 Public Dance and Debate project, we received £2000.00 from HM Government.

In May 2019, along with The Rising Sun Arts Centre, we received £10,346.00 from Arts Council England and The National Lottery and generous support in kind from the arts centre for our 5-month, Moves Together project in partnership with John Madejski Academy, Geoffrey Field Junior School and Brookfields School, a specialist SEN school. In February 2021, we received £8528.78 from Sport England as part of Get Berkshire Active’s Tackling Inequalities Fund for our Navigating Stories programme in partnership with Berkshire Women’s Aid where we worked with women and children in refuge accommodation in Reading.

The Rising Sun Arts Centre, University of Reading, Reading UK CIC and Reading Borough Council have also commissioned our work and the quality can be further evidenced through our continuous, outstanding participant and audience feedback.

Audience feedback from our first ever performance, Home at St. Bart’s, includes:

“[The] diversity between the five parts of the group and the ability to change focus to each individual was amazing. [It had] depth.”

“…Curious and topical questions in our society. Excellent choice of theme. [I] loved separating space in first part, [I] loved listening. We too often hear but don’t listen. [It was] visual, auditory and physical. Thank you.”

Reside Dance C.I.C. won the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award at Reading Cultural Awards 2019. Artistic Director, Jen, was also nominated as a local hero in Reading-on-Thames Festival’s photography competition in 2018.
